RICHARD FRANKLIN SHIREY

FRANKLINTON, NC--Richard Franklin "Rick" Shirey passed away on September 10, 2021. Rick was born on January 30, 1950 to the late James and Nellie Duke Shirey. In addition to his parents, Rick was predeceased by a sister, Cindy Price; and his brother, Terry Shirey.

Rick is survived by his wife of 47 years, Minnie Ruth Peters Shirey; his son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Tammi Shirey; his daughter, Adrian S. Wright; grandchildren, Addison Shirey and Tage Wright; and his sister and brother-in-law, Dolly and Frank Lemons.

Rick proudly served in the U.S. Air Force and retired from Long Beverage, Inc. after 27 years of dedicated service.

Rick's personality was larger than life. His laughter was contagious, and his sense of humor was unmatched. He loved life and people and would bring energy into a room. He loved his family, his church family at Franklinton Baptist Church, and his friends. Rick and Minnie opened their home to any and all. Rick was a huge Clemson fan. Rick always looked forward to his "Tuesday Morning Board Meeting" at Hometown Café with the men from his church.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 19, 2021, from 1 - 1:45 p.m. at Franklinton Baptist Church, 102 W. Mason St. Franklinton, NC 27525, where a celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. with Reverend David Averette officiating.

Lancaster's Franklinton Chapel is caring for the family. Online condolences may be made to www.lancasterfcs.com.
