GEORGE MONTGOMERY HAYES

LOUISBURG, NC--George Montgomery Hayes, 80, of Louisburg, passed away on November 17, 2021. He was born on December 29, 1940, to the late George Ernest and Bessie Edward Phelps Hayes. He was preceded in death by a sister, Maxine H. Brock; brothers, Philmore Hayes, Walton Hayes, Russell Hayes, Raeford Hayes, and R.T. Hayes, Sr.

George is survived by his wife, Pamela Jean Ball Hayes; his daughter and son-in-law, Jean and Chuck Odom; grandchildren, Sabrina Odom and Levi Odom; as well as numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews.

George served his country in the National Guard. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. George from an early age had a passion for cars, he and his brother Raeford opened Hayes Brothers Esso in 1967 in Henderson, which later became Hayes Brothers Exxon and then Hayes Brothers Muffler Shop where George continued working until October of 2020. George held a pilot's license and enjoyed flying around Ball Airport. He was an easy-going guy with a great personality and a tender heart.

The family will receive friends from 1 - 1:45 p.m. on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at Lancaster Funeral and Cremation Services, 804 N. Bickett Blvd., Louisburg, NC 27549, where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, consider donations to either Piney Grove United Methodist Church, 352 Moulton Rd. Louisburg, NC 27549 or to Oxford United Methodist Church for the "Will's Way Project", P.O.
