CASTALIA, NC--David Lee Wilder Jr., 77, of Castalia passed away on February 27, 2022. David was born on November 13, 1944 to the late David Sr. and Lelia May Wilder.

David is survived by his wife, Meredith Loyd Wilder; his son and daughter-in-law, Lee and Susan Wilder; grandsons, Daniel Lee Wilder, and Trevor Wilder; his great-grandbaby, Sawyer; and his sister, Dr. Dorothy Wilder.

David retired from the NCDOT with over 32 years of service. He was a natural leader who encouraged others and was always willing to help others. David enjoyed his hobbies of farming, hunting, and fishing, as well as operating heavy equipment to build ponds and clear land. He was a practical jokester and had a sensitive side as could be seen with his love of animals; David had a pet dove named "Lucky".

The family will receive friends from 6:30-8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at Lancaster Funeral and Cremation Services, 804 N. Bickett Blvd. Louisburg, NC 27549. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 2, 2022 at Mt. Gilead Church, 2545 Hwy 561, Louisburg, NC 27549, with Pastor Larry Ayscue officiating. Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.
