WILLIAM HOCKADAY CANNADY JR.

Mr. William Hockaday Cannady Jr. age 83 of Oak Lane Blairsville, GA. passed away peacefully on Wednesday February 23, 2022 at his home following an extended illness. William was born on May 13, 1938 in Louisburg, NC., the son of the late William Hockaday Cannady Sr. and the late Julia Love Snead Cannady. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force of the Vietnam era. William retired as a Pilot from United and Eastern Airlines with over thirty seven years of service. He enjoyed fishing, RC airplanes, traveling and was an avid machinist. He was a loving husband, father, brother and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Jean Graham Cannady in 2019 and a sister, Mary Frances Cannady. Mr. Cannady was a member of Perry's Chapel Church.

Surviving Mr. Cannady are one son and daughter in law, Scott and Jennifer Cannady of Peachtree City, GA., one daughter, Susan Cannady of Cumming, GA., son in law, Mark Applewhite of Suwanee, two brothers and one sister in law, Sammy Cannady of Louisburg, NC., Leonard and Carolyn Cannady of Raleigh, NC., five grandchildren, Brady, Owen, Danny, Madeline and Sara, several nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Graveside services were held on Sunday, February 27, 2022 at 2:30 p.m. from the Laurel Hills Cemetery with Rev. Gregg Bailey officiating. Military Honors were presented by the North GA Honor Guard. Interment followed in the Laurel Hills Cemetery where he will rest next to his beloved wife Peggy. The family received friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 1-2 p.m.
