Herbert Landis Preddy

LOUISBURG, NC-- Herbert Landis Preddy, 92 of Louisburg passed away on Monday, May 9, 2022 at his residence. He was born in Granville County son of the late Lessie Hicks Preddy and George Herbert Preddy.

A memorial graveside service will be held Friday morning May 13 at 11 o'clock at Flat Rock Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Preddy was survived by his wife of 67 years Jean Cash Preddy, daughter Melody Hedgepeth, son in law Craig Hedgepeth and grandchildren Colin Hedgepeth and Sarah Hedgepeth, sisters Doris Wheeler and Shirley Briggs, nephews Mark Preddy and Edward Wheeler ( Laurel ) and niece Janice Arnold ( Tony ). He was predeceased by his brother Thomas Preddy, brothers and sister in law, Mary Ellen Preddy, Harold Wheeler and Hartwell Briggs, niece Angela Hayes (Alan ).

Landis grew up in the Mitcheners crossroads area and worked hard from the time he was a young boy helping his family farm. He had a talent for carpentry, mechanics, building and repairing things for family and friends. He was a retired Maintenance Supervisor from Aerotron in Raleigh. He also worked at Burlington Mills in Franklinton for 29 years. He enjoyed many hobbies including classic cars, restoring antiques, and building just about anything. He enjoyed bluegrass music and socializing with friends. He was a loyal husband, father, grandfather and friend to many. He had great regard for the Masonic Lodge and was a member of Lodge 377 in Youngsville for 61 years. He had a quick wit and always had a joke or funny story to tell. He said, "I believe a man can do anything he wants to, if I didn't know anything about something, I like to watch someone do it to learn". His creative, independent spirit will be missed.

Friends may visit with the family following the graveside service at the home.
