Brown Costello Ramey
February 24, 1932 - September 29, 2022

FRANKLINTON, NC--Brown Costello Ramey, age 90, of Franklinton, NC, peacefully passed away Thursday, September 29, 2022 surrounded by his family.

He was born in Franklin County, NC, on February 24, 1932 to Sidney Ramey and Annie Whitt Ramey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Fred and Sidney Ramey, his sisters Hilda Mustian and Katherine House.

Costello was a graduate of Franklinton High School and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was the owner / operator of Ramey's Gulf Service in Franklinton, Ramey's Tire and Auto in Youngsville, and Big Duke's Western Wear in Raleigh.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Beverly Ramey of Franklinton, his children: Tony Ramey of Broadway; Kelly Breedlove and husband Kevin of Oxford; his five grandchildren, Matthew Ramey (Alace) of Raleigh, Casie Daniels (Ben) of Franklinton, Chris Cannady (Emily) of Louisburg, Michael Ramey of Broadway, and Ty Breedlove (Kayla) of Oxford. His two great-grandchildren, Emerson and Charlie Daniels of Franklinton.

The family would like to thank Lee Jobe, MD with NC Heart and Vascular, Dominee Ehrhardt, AGNP with UNC Health Care, and the 6 West floor nurses at Rex Hospital for the care they provided.

Visitation was held at Franklinton Baptist Church on Monday, October 3 at 11 a.m. Memorial service followed at 12 noon with the Rev. David Averette officiating.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Franklinton Baptist Church, 102 West Mason Street, Franklinton, NC 27525 or St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
