BETTYE G. SMILEY
August 28, 1939 - April 27, 2023

FRANKLINTON, NC --Bettye Lane Gupton Smiley, 83, of Franklinton, passed away Thursday afternoon at WakeMed.

Bettye was the daughter of the late Robert Irving Gupton and Johnnie Mae Gupton. She was preceded in death by her husband Andy Smiley.

A visitation was held Sunday, April 30 from 4:00 - 5:30 p.m. in the chapel of Strickland Funeral Home & Crematory in Louisburg.

A celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, May 4 at 1 p.m. at Faith Baptist Church in Youngsville. Burial will follow her celebration of life service at the Mount Zion Baptist Church Cemetery in Louisburg.

Bettye is survived by her son, Tony Smiley and wife Susan of Courtland, VA.; daughters, Tracy Golmon of Franklinton and Terri Wynne of Louisburg; grandchildren Drew Smiley (Yvonne), Brandon Smiley, Crystal Golmon, Kelly Abernathy (Steven), Kimberly Smiley (Thomas), Kayla Pepperdene, Jessica Stollings (Darrell), Tiffany Schlegelmilch (Stephen), and Natalie Wynne; many great-grandchildren; and sister, Ann Foster of Louisburg.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Franklin County Adult Day Care Program at the Louisburg Senior Center, Attn. Wendy Hunter, 279 S. Bickett Blvd, Suite 400, Louisburg, NC 27549.
