YOUNGSVILLE, NC--Betty "Boots" E. Weathers of Youngsville, NC passed away at the age of 96 on May 6, 2023. She was the daughter of the late Rev. Lucius R. Evans and Claudia Evans. Betty was predeceased by her husband J.W. Weathers, Jr. and her brother, Lucius R. Evans, Jr. She is survived by her sisters Benjie E. Steed, Lee E. Tate (Jim), numerous nieces and nephews, and "children" Mitzie T. Barnette (Russ), Ricky Tharrington (Hope) and Gary Tharrington (Dorothy).
Betty was a graduate of Mars Hill College and Queens College. After graduation, she began her lifelong career on the executive staff at the Southeastern Baptist Seminary in Wake Forest. In addition, she was involved with many civic organizations including the NC Woman's Club. As a member of the Woman's Club, she served in numerous state and local positions including State President of NC. She was also a member of the Youngsville Baptist Church.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 11 o'clock, Wednesday morning, May 10, 2023 at the Youngsville Cemetery where she will be laid to rest beside her husband.
