JAKE L. PHILLIPS, SR,
January 2, 1940 - May 24, 2023

BUNN, NC--Jake Lee Phillips, Sr, 83, of Bunn, passed away Wednesday evening at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Jake was the son of the late James Alga Phillips and Mattie Lois Pearce Phillips and was preceded in death by his sisters Alice Faye Wester and Thelma Baker and brother James McKinley Phillips.

He served 3 1/2 years in the Navy. He was a member of Bunn Baptist Church but was unable to attend once he was diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer in June 2020. He served on Bunn Rescue for about 30 years. He drove an 18-wheeler from 1979-2002. He loved driving across the United States, especially going to Texas. He drove a delivery truck for 8 years part time for Pender Nursery which he really enjoyed. He was known for his Christmas decorations. He enjoyed watching people drive through to see the decorations.

Jake is survived by his wife of 61 years, Janet Faulkner Phillips; son, Jake Phillips, Jr. (Dawn) of Fleetwood, daughter, Teresa McKeithan (Leo); granddaughters, Amber Tate(Jason), Paige Alston (Alvin); great grandchildren, Hayden, Cohen, Collin, Grayson, and two on the way; brothers, John Phillips and wife Julie, Joesph (Joe)Phillips and wife Mary Alice, Jack Phillips and wife Faye, Jesse Phillips and wife Sarah, Jay Jarvis (Sam) Phillips; sister, Peggy Ann Johnson and husband Sammy, and many nieces and nephews.

The family will accept flowers or memorials can be made to Bunn Baptist Church P.O. Box 144, Bunn, NC 27508

The family would like to thank everyone at Duke Raleigh Hematology Oncology Dr. Agrawal's staff for all their love, care, compassion for the last several years.

The family will receive friends 5 - 6:30 p.m., Friday, May 26, 2023, at Strickland Funeral Home & Crematory, Louisburg and other times at the home, 104 NC 98 Hwy E., Bunn.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, May 27, 2023 in the chapel of Strickland Funeral Home & Crematory, Louisburg. Burial will be private at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens in Zebulon.
