JOSEPH MICHAEL STROTHER

ROCKWELL -- Joseph Michael Strother, of Rockwell, NC, passed away on May 28, 2023.

Mike, as he was known to friends and family, was born in Henderson, NC in 1942 and grew up on a tobacco farm in nearby Franklinton. He was the only son of Benjamin Joseph Strother and Nina Pulley Strother.

Mike graduated with a BS in Business Administration from UNC-Chapel Hill and then served as an officer in the USAF for four years.

He subsequently worked for over 30 years for Fieldcrest Cannon, where he retired as the manager of chemical and technical services in Kannapolis.

He had a lifelong passion for golf and card games, especially bridge, and he also enjoyed singing, gardening, reading, and regular visits to his wife's home state of Hawaii.

Mike was known for his love of family, his dry wit, and his beautiful singing voice.

He is survived by his wife, Sherry Strother; his two sons, Stephen Strother and Jon Strother; his daughter-in-law, Grace Strother; his granddaughter, Kira Strother; and his step-grandson, Tristan Moore.

A Celebration of Life is being planned for later this summer.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Mike's name to Cooperative Christian Ministry in Concord, NC - https://cooperativeministry.com

Summersett Funeral Home is serving the Strother family. Online condolences may be made at www.summersettfuneralhome.com.
