Phillip Maurice Stallings
January 24, 1938 - July 16, 2023

Phillip Maurice Stallings went to be with the Lord on July 16, 2023. He passed peacefully with his family by his side. Phillip was born in Nash County, North Carolina on January 24, 1938. He worked for NASA for 32 years (1963-1995). His memberships in the Clear Lake Masonic Lodge #1417, Scottish Rite, and Shriners were an important part of his life. He enjoyed every aspect of his work at NASA, and proudly participated in his masonic work. He was the worshipful master for the lodge from 1981-1982.

Family was first on his list of things to do. He enjoyed his family adventures and loved working with his hands. "There wasn't anything he couldn't fix." He loved old cars and, in fact, rebuilt his very own 1965 Austin Healy Sprite.

Seven Paths, North Carolina was Phillip's homestead. He lived there as a child and thought of it as "Home" to the very end. He designed and built a fully stocked fishpond on the property. Rumor has it that Phillip was a rather good fisherman.

Phillip is survived by his wife of 48 years, Susan Stallings; daughter, Shawna Guffey (Bill); son, Todd Stallings (Liz); grandchildren, Aidan and Molly Guffey, Jameson, Vivian, and Leo Stallings; step-grandson, Travis Guffey. He is also survived by brothers Jimmy Stallings (Delores) and Bill Stallings (Wanda); sister Martha Cooper (Ron); sister-in-law Sarah Stallings (Art) and numerous nieces and nephews.

Phillip is preceded in death by his mother and father, Mattie Lee and Arthur Cleveland Stallings, his brother Arthur Cleveland Stallings Jr., and nephew James Stallings.

Phil's life-long philosophy can be summarized by one of his favorite sayings..."Nothing to it but to do it!"

A memorial celebration of life will be scheduled at a future date. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating in honor of Phillip Stallings to Holly Grove Baptist Church, 1640 Holly Rd. Spring Hope, NC 27882.
