John Astor Parrish Jr.
October 16, 1948 - January 9, 2024

LOUISBURG, NC--John Astor Parrish Jr., of Louisburg, NC, 75 years of age, passed away on Tuesday January 9, 2024 surrounded by his family. John was a local legend. Known by many in not just Raleigh and Louisburg, NC- he was world renowned, according to him. He never met a stranger!

He was a strong advocate for the community and an outspoken proponent in obtaining Internet availability for underserved children and citizens in Franklin County. He also served as President of the Raleigh Jaycees from 1984 to 1985. He worked for the State Government with Air Quality and then worked at Entropy to continue with his Environmental Improvements throughout North Carolina. John then began Advantage Marketing, which he owned for over 30 years.

John was born in Louisburg, NC on October 16, 1948. He was predeceased by both of his parents John Astor Parrish and Ida Mae Gilliam Parrish and his infant son. John is survived by his wife of fifty two years, Jackie Dorsey Parrish, his two daughters Laura Parrish (Steve Congleton); Leigh Ann Parrish (Kevin Freeman); and his granddaughter Savannah Mae Congleton.

The service will be held in the chapel of Strickland Funeral Home, 103 W Franklin St., Louisburg, on Friday, January 12, 2024 at 1 p.m. The family will receive visitors after the service. www.stricklandfuneralhome.net
