Joseph Patrick (Joe) Olivieri
March 19, 1973 - April 24, 2024
Joseph Patrick (Joe) Olivier

Franklinton , NC--Joseph Patrick (Joe) Olivieri, 51, of Franklinton went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, April 24, 2024. He was born on March 19, 1973, in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Dr. Vincent Paul Olivieri and Anna Louise (Casertano) Olivieri. He was a loving husband to Kerry McCarthy Olivieri and a dedicated father to Joey Olivieri.

Joe was a lifelong learner. After his high school graduation, he attended the University of Pennsylvania and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in History in 1995. Joe worked for three years as an English teacher at Franklinton High School, continuing his education at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, earning his Juris Doctorate in 2001.

In 2006, Joe opened his own law firm in Louisburg, NC. Specializing in Family and Criminal Law, Joe successfully assisted the citizens of Franklin County and beyond during important times in their lives. He ran his law firm with a strong dedication to his clients for over ten years. Joe was an exceptional lawyer and educator. He was proud of his community and took the honor of serving the people of his community. In October 2017, Joe followed his heart and became an Assistant District Attorney in the 11th Prosecutorial District where he continued to serve the people of his community.

Joe gave tirelessly of his time, talent, and treasures to various community organizations, schools, and charitable causes. He was the President of the Knights of Columbus Council 13511 and a faithful member of Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church, serving on several boards for the church. He was in the doors of the church every time they were opened. Joe could be seen working the church yard sale, serving other parishioners in need, and serving as the Confirmation teacher for close to twenty years. Joe was respected and loved by his fellow church parishioners.

Joe was also a devoted husband and an amazing father. He loved his family and was very proud of them. Joe loved to brag about Kerry and Joey any chance he was given to anyone who would listen. His sense of humor and wit will always be remembered and cherished. His loving hugs and words of wisdom will be greatly missed.

Joseph was preceded in death by his godfather, Arthur Hahner, his mother-in-law, Mary McCarthy, and his father-in-law, Ed McCarthy, Sr.

Joe is survived by his wife, Kerry and their son, Joey; his mother, Anna; his sister, Gina Fischer (James), niece Lauren DiPietro (Anthony) and nephew J Paul Fischer (Megan); his brother, Vincent (Lisa); his stepmother-in law, Marilyn McCarthy; brothers-in-law, Eddie Jr. (Courtney), Timothy, and James; his aunt, Louise Hahner, and cousins Patricia, Nancy, and Diane. He is also survived by his village of countless friends, colleagues, and extended family.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting contributions to a fund created to support the family and to assist with Joey's educational expenses (https://gofund.me/caae5a6x5), or to Safe Space NC (www.ncsafespace.org).
