LOUISBURG, NC -- Ms. Marie Gupton Denton, 93, of Louisburg passed away on Wednesday, May 22, 2024. She was born on June 10, 1930 to the late Edgar and Glennie Davis Gupton in Franklin County.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 27 years, Ernest Holland Denton; two sisters, Nobia Bottoms, and Frances Champion; two brothers, James Gupton and Junior Gupton; and one grandson, Billy Denton.

Left to cherish her memory are her three children, Wesley Denton (Rhonda), Dexter Denton (Jamie), and Ed Denton (Beth); three grandchildren, Wes Denton (Wendy), Kristi Walker (Doug), and David Denton (Kandi); eight great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Bobby Gupton; and many nieces and nephews whom she loved very much.

Marie was a lifelong member of Centerville Baptist Church. Throughout her career as a nursing assistant, she worked at Louisburg Nursing Center and later retired from Franklin Memorial Hospital. After retirement she worked with the Franklin County Senior Day Program until she was in her eighties. Marie loved to cook and enjoyed flowers and gardening. She loved to talk and visit with friends and family. Marie loved her family and her church family very much, and she will be missed tremendously.

The family will receive friends and visitors on Monday, May 27, 2024 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Centerville Baptist Church, 5741 NC-561, Louisburg, and other times at the home of Ed and Beth Denton. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, May 27, 2024 at 12 p.m. at Centerville Baptist Church and will be officiated by Pastor Doug Moore. Burial will follow at Centerville Baptist Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers please consider making a memorial contribution to Centerville Baptist Church.

Funeral Arrangements are entrusted to Lancaster Funeral and Cremation Services in Louisburg.
