James Melton Buchanan

LOUISBURG, NC--James Melton Buchanan, 76, of Louisburg died Wednesday, July 24, 2024 at his home. He was born September 16, 1947 in Cumberland County, a son of the late Deberry & Viola Buchanan.

A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Buchanan was held Wednesday, July 31, at 2 p.m. at Pearce Baptist Church, Zebulon NC, with the Dr. Stephen Hulsey officiating.

He is survived by his wife, Willarene D. Buchanan of Louisburg; daughter Heather Buchanan (Anthony) of Zebulon; son Deney Buchanan (Tracey) of Spring Hope; a brother, John Buchanan of Durham; sisters, Betty Gaylord of Greenville, Dorothy Canipe of Clayton, Edna Goodrich (Robert) of Fayetteville; four granddaughters; one great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Beatrice Cannon, Buck Graham, Nevarro Buchanan, Barry Buchanan, David Buchanan, Thetis Nash, Mary Anne Copher, Clara Lingo.

The family received friends after the service at Pearce Baptist Church and other times at 115 Mohawk Drive, Louisburg.

Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Foundation of America or American Cancer Society.
