Peggy Tucker (Pearce)
December 20, 1933 - November 16, 2025

RALEIGH, NC -- Peggy Pearce Tucker, 91, passed away peacefully in her sleep on November 16, 2025 at Rex Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Raleigh, NC.

Peggy was born on December 20, 1933 to the late Urban Turner and Pauline House Pearce.

In addition to her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by siblings Louise Jeffreys (Tommie), Urban Lynn Pearce (Jane), Carolyn Strange (John), Bob Pearce (Shirley), Charles Pearce (Peggy) and Joe Pearce.

Peggy graduated from Edward Best High School in Louisburg in 1952 followed by a short career as a switchboard operator for the Southern Bell Telephone Company, ultimately ending up in a long career in the Customer Accounting & Control department at Carolina Power and Light, earning her a position in the "Pioneer Club" after 25 years of service. Peggy retired in 1995, following a couple years of contract-based work for CP&L in the same department. In 1997, she welcomed her grandson, Robert, into the world.

Peggy would spend weekdays after school and summers taking care of Robert as he went through elementary and middle school. Peggy was a member of the St. Marks United Methodist Church in Raleigh, NC for 50 years, even operating as a volunteer receptionist there until 2023. She enjoyed the News & Observer's various puzzles, wagering an annual battle against the leaves, acorns and squirrels that occupied her yard, and cheering on the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Men's Basketball team. She absolutely loved time spent with her family, whether it be going to the beach with her brothers and sisters at Lousie and Tommy Jeffries beach home in Atlantic Beach, going to the ACC basketball Tournament with her sisters, or looking forward to the annual Family Reunion and Christmas parties, somehow always finding something delicious and sweet to prepare for all to enjoy.

Peggy is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Tony and Cathy Tucker; and her grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Robert and Emily Tucker.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 24, 2025 at St. Mark's United Methodist Church, 4801 Six Forks Road, Raleigh, NC 27609 with Pastor LuAnn Charlton officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Burial services will be held at 2 p.m. at Cedar Rock First Baptist Church Cemetery, 4879 NC-56, Castalia, NC 27816.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Marks United Methodist Church in Raleigh.
