MAE H. PERNELL
October 3, 1940 - February 3, 2026

Mae Hale Pernell, 85, of the Alert Community, passed away peacefully Tuesday afternoon., February 3, 2026.

Mae was the daughter of the late Wilson and Gussie M. Hale. She was preceded in death by her sister, Annie Daniels; brothers, L.C. Mosley and Lawrence Hale.
Mae loved her family, her church and her flowers.

Mae is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Valon "Sam" Pernell; daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Don Evans; sons and daughter-in-law, Dexter and Linda Pernell; Grant Pernell; sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and John Gilliam; sister-in-law, Betty Mosley; grandchildren; Steven (Amber), Renee (Tom), Kevin (Brittany), Lindsay (Christian), Caitlin (Austin), Hayley (Nathan); great-grandchildren; Bryan (Haley), Mia, Jaden, Jase, Cole, Elijah, Adalynn, Raelynn, Madalynn, Evan, Maelyn, Madison, and Braxton; great-great- granddaughter, Nevaeh; many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service was held at 3 p.m., Sunday, February 8th at Alert Pentecostal Holiness Church. Burial followed in the Pernell Family Cemetery.

The family received friends 3 - 4 p.m. Saturday, February 7th at Strickland Funeral Home & Crematory, Louisburg.
