Charles Graham Holmes
January 20, 1947 - February 25, 2026
Charles "Charlie" Holmes

BEAUFORT, NC -- Charles "Charlie" Holmes, 79, passed away on February 25, 2026, in Beaufort, North Carolina. Born on January 20, 1947, in Louisburg, North Carolina, Charlie was the beloved son of the late Graham and Mary Charles Alford Holmes.

Charlie was a proud graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill and a devoted fan of his Tar Heels. His love for his alma mater was a defining part of his life. He also had a deep affection for all dogs, especially, Brittany Spaniels and cherished his time at the beach. Following his retirement from the Warren County School System as a history teacher and the passing of his mother, Charlie made Atlantic Beach his permanent home, where he found peace and joy by the ocean.

Charlie is survived by his cousin, Leanna Winstead Anderson and many other cousins.

A graveside service was held Sunday, March 1, 2026 at Oakwood Cemetery in Louisburg.

A celebration of Charlie's life will be held in Atlantic Beach at a later date. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Carteret County Humane Society Animal Shelter, 853 Hibbs Rd., Newport, NC 28570.

Arrangements are by Strickland Funeral Home & Crematory, Louisburg, www.stricklandfuneralhome.net.
