Franklinton, NC -- Betty Smith Hinton, 81, of Franklinton, died April 4, 2026 at Franklin Oaks in Louisburg, NC. Betty was born on July 7, 1944 to the late Sidney Albert Smith Sr. and Ruby Davis Smith.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husbands, Cecil Collie and Ollie "Jay" Hinton; her siblings, Sidney A Smith Jr., Claudette S. Daniels, and Dorothy S. Collie; a grandson; Dylan Collie; and her son-in-law, Chris Hatley.
Betty is survived by her children, Jimmy Collie (Katrina) and Matilda Hatley; her three grandchildren; and a dear friend.
Friends and family were received at Lancaster's Franklinton Chapel on Wednesday, April 8, from 6 until 7:30 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 12 noon on Thursday, April 9, at Franklinton Baptist Church with Rev. David Averette officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Forest Memorial Gardens in Wake Forest, NC.
