SARAH O’NEAL IHRIE
LOUISBURG - Sarah O’Neal Ihrie, 84, died Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2008. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. today (Saturday Oct. 4) at Louisburg United Methodist Church. Entombment will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.

Born in Middlesex, she was the daughter of the late A.D. O’Neal and Rebecca Narron O’Neal. She and her late husband, John Haughton Ihrie III, married and settled in Louisburg for the past 46 years. She was an educator throughout her long career, teaching in public schools, private schools and Sunday school for many years.

She also served as headmistress for two years.

Surviving: her daughters, Patricia Jane Hayes (Ron) of Canon, Ga. and Edith Ihrie Hilliard of Louisburg; sons James Ralph Ihrie of Louisburg, William Floyd Ihrie (Marlene) of Statesville, and Ben Michael Ihrie (Elaine) of Louisburg; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; sisters Rochelle Boswell (Jim) of Middlesex, Eleanor Sullivan (James) of Greenville, Delano Renfro (Ray) of Annandale, Va.; brother Poe O’Neal (Burdette) of Fayetteville.

The family received friends at Strickland Funeral Home, Louisburg on Friday, Oct. 3 from 7 - 8:30 p.m.

Arrangements handled by Strickland Funeral Home, Louisburg.
