LESLIE “L.G.” ALFORD, JR.
PILOT – Leslie “L.G.” Gardner Alford, Jr., 75, died Thursday morning, Oct. 30, 2008 at his home. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. today (Saturday, Nov. 1) at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens, Zebulon.

He was born in Wake County to the late Leslie Gardner Alford, Sr. and Printice P. Alford Smith.

He was a retired surveyor field inspector and was a veteran of the US Air Force.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Warren Carroll, Josephine C. Allen, Joe W. Carroll, Ann A. Atkins, Kirby Alford and Jessy A. Howell.

Surviving: his wife, Dawn Lewis Alford; daughter, Karen A. Montanez of Tallahassee, Fla.; step father Wayne Smith; sisters, Joyce Floyd of Clayton and Sue S. Cooke of Raleigh; several nieces and nephews.

Flowers accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Wake County, 1300 St. Mary’s St., Raleigh, NC 27605.

Arrangements are by Strickland Funeral Home, 211 W. Third St., Wendell.
