Louisburg police are busy

LOUISBURG -- Louisburg police arrested a man on drug and gun charges.
According to authorities, the incident was alleged to have happened in the 800 block of Bickett Boulevard just before 10 a.m. on Dec. 18.
Jeffrey Ellis Perry II, 31, was charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, maintaining a vehicle for the sale of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and carrying a concealed gun.

Host Bunn has controlled the league over the past two campaigns, winning both seasons en route to taking the Class 2-A East Regional title before competing in the Class 2-A State Championship contest.

And that team would be the Northern Nash Lady Knights, who surged ahead in the opening stanza of action and never looked back en route to defeating the homestanding Ladycats by a 45-21 total at the historic Bunn Dome.

West sweeps state football crowns

CHAPEL HILL -- It was a Wild West Weekend at the annual North Carolina High School Athletic Association State Football Championships.
The West Region claimed each of the four matchups and more than doubled the total combined scores by a tally of 139-68.
This year's state champions -- all from the West -- are Mount Airy (1-A), Reidsville (2-A), Hickory (3-A) and Weddington (4-A).

ZEBULON -- The Carolina Mudcats recently announced home game times for the 2024 regular-season schedule at Five County Stadium in Zebulon.
The home opener is set for Tuesday, April 9 at 6:30 p.m. versus the Down East Wood Ducks.
The first game of the season is slated for Friday, April 5 in Salem.

LOUISBURG, NC--Sally Blane Credle Murphy, 90, of Louisburg, passed away Tuesday evening, December 12, 2023, at her son and daughter-in-law's home.

Sally was the daughter of the late Jeff Fulford and Sallie Glenn Hooks Credle. She was preceded in death by her husband, Percy Gray "P.G." Murphy, Jr. and her brother, Allen Credle. She was a retired Franklin County school teacher of thirty-three years. Her life was greatly enriched by her students.
