LOUISBURG - Robert "Bobby" Nathaniel Ayscue, Jr., 68, of Louisburg, died Wednesday afternoon. Bobby was a son of the late Robert Nathaniel and Mary Lou Abbott Ayscue, Sr. and a native of Franklin County. Bobby was a member of Liberty Christian Church and an Army Special Forces veteran and an Air Force retiree.

A local orthopaedic surgeon has introduced the web’s most complete textbook of orthopaedics. Dr. C.R Wheeless III, who has offices in Louisburg, Henderson and Wake Forest and also heads up Franklin Regional Medical Center’s Orthopaedics Division, started the comprehensive online medical textbook in 1996 for his honors thesis at Duke University School of Medicine, and in 2004 he donated the rights to the book to the university.

EPSOM — Heroes are hard to come by these days.
Fortunately for Tiffany Wynne, a rising senior at Louisburg High School, there are still a few around.
On Saturday, June 23, Powell Wilkins, an Oxford firefighter who volunteers at the Epsom Fire Department, pulled Tiffany from the burning wreck of her car literally seconds before the entire vehicle was engulfed in flames.
