FC Nationals nab Dixie Baseball district crown
FRANKLIN COUNTY -- After outscoring opponents by a whopping 36-2 margin in three games, the Franklin County Nationals took home the Dixie Baseball District Championship last weekend.
The Nationals, coached by Ken Smith, opened tourney action with a 16-0, four-inning victory over Youngsville 1 on July 12 at the Franklinton Recreation Park.

Former House Speaker Jim Black was sentenced to federal prison this week, and Franklin County’s legislative leaders said it’s the appropriate fate for a leader who abused his office and the public’s trust. “From the outset, I took the position of let the criminal justice system work and I think it has in this situation,” said Sen. Franklin Veneers cited, fined in death of employee
A Franklinton company has two weeks to pay a fine or contest a citation that asserts it violated work safety laws that led to the death of an employee. Franciso Baez Morales, 20, was killed at Franklin Veneers on April 10 while he was removing plastic covering from a log pile when they released and rolled on top of him.
