1805.Two armed robberies investigated by deputies
Franklin County sheriff’s deputies are investigating two separate armed robberies. Charles Brown reported the afternoon of Dec. 23 that he had been robbed at gunpoint the previous evening. According to the report by Dep. Kevin Perry, Brown told authorities that four people he knew stole cash, an iPhone and iPad from him during a party at a home in the 400 block of Mitchell Store Road near Youngsville.

When the Louisburg Lions Club found out that the Terrell Lane Middle School cafeteria fund was facing a shortage at the end of the year because some students were unable to fully pay for their lunches, the Lions decided to help out. The club recently presented a check for $1,380 to the school to erase this year's deficit.

RALEIGH -- A loss in the finals didn't dampen the spirits of Bunn's best-ever football season.The Wildcats reached the Class 2-AA State Championship Game for the first time in school history Saturday, only to be foiled by a high-powered juggernaut of a club from Monroe.The Redhawks flashed the speed and skill on both sides of the ball and stopped Bunn by a 38-19 margin in the title contest at Carter-Finley Stadium.Still, Bunn coach David Howle was hardly displeased after the outing, which featured about 5,000 Wildcats' fans in the stands.

BUNN -- With three ninth-grade starters and only two seniors on the entire roster, it was easy to surmise that the Bunn Wildcats overachieved on the baseball diamond this season.Still, the end of the campaign is always difficult to swallow, especially when it happens in the first round of the Class 2-A State Playoffs.The Wildcats had their chances but were done in by some uncharacteristic miscues as part of Tuesday's home loss to South Columbus by a 7-4 margin.

HENDERSON -- Having gotten the better of the season series with Franklinton in recent years, it was hard for Southern Vance fans not to look at Friday night’s Senior Night clash with the Red Rams as little more than a dress rehearsal for the State 2-A Playoffs that start next week. The defense didn’t miss any cues, piling up seven interceptions while returning one for a score and the offense was good enough to get all the understudies a little work in a 41-14 victory.

In Tuesdays rematch, this time at the LHS Gymnasium, it was time for Franklintons Cameron Keith and Corey Smith to sparkle.

Hundley, Trevor Tyler, 21, was operating a four wheeler just after 8 p.m.  on Saturday when he ran a stop sign at Reynold Road and N.C. 561 and crashed into a pickup truck.

LOUISBURG -- The passenger in a fatal wreck that investigators believe was fueled by alcohol is suing the owner of the store where he alleges beer was sold to the underage driver.Perry Jackson Frazier, 18, was driving a pickup truck during the early morning hours of Oct. 10 when he ran off the road, hit a tree, was ejected and killed.According to the March 7 lawsuit, his passenger, Dustin Garriss, 18, suffered a traumatic brain injury, fractures of his cervical spine, and an avulsion -- tearing away -- of his left ear.
