BETTY K. MENDENHALL

FRANKLINTON - Betty Lou Kearney Mendenhall, 70, of 7 North Chavis St. died Thursday, Oct. 18, at Rex Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today (Saturday, Oct. 20), at Franklinton Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery.

Mrs. Mendenhall was born Oct. 18, 1937 in Franklin County, daughter of the late Jessie Irene Hedrick Kearney and the late Troy Blair Kearney.

Surviving: her husband of 38 years, Vance A. Mendenhall; sisters, Nancy Redman of Crewe, Va., Barbara Kearney and Sara Moody, both of Raleigh; brothers, Howard Kearney (Dalua) of Creedmoor and Tommy Kearney (Deborah) of Wake Forest; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Oakley, and a brother, David Kearney.

Memorial contributions may be made to Franklinton Baptist Church, 108 West Mason St., Franklinton, NC 27525 or to the American Cancer Society, 8300 Health Park, Suite 10, Raleigh, NC 27615.
