WILLIAM C. “BILL” PALMER
HUDSON - William C. “Bill” Palmer, 75, died Thursday, June 15, 2006, at Frye Regional Hospital in Hickory following several months of declining health and after suffering a stroke on June 11.

The funeral will be conducted at 4 p.m. Sunday, June 18, at Poovey’s Chapel Baptist Church in Hudson. Houston Groome, a fellow attorney, will give the eulogy. Receiving will be at the church two hours before the services, and burial will be in the church cemetery.

Palmer practiced law in Lenoir for 49 years, right up until has last hospitalization. He held undergraduate and law degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Surviving: his mother, Faye Crisp Palmer of Lenoir; his wife, Hazel Harrold Palmer; three daughters, Dr. Laurie Palmer of Maiden, Beth Palmer (a fellow lawyer) of Lenoir, Pattie Palmer Maness (Steve) of Pfafftown; two sons, Rick Palmer (Brenda) and Paul Palmer of Hudson; one granddaughter; and one grandson.

Other survivors are two brothers, Dr. Michael H. Palmer of Durham, formerly of Louisburg, and Lawrence N. Palmer Jr. (Ruth) of Myrtle Beach, S. C.; four sisters, Marjorie Palmer O’Neill of Ft. Washington, Md., Shirley Palmer Rader (Alvin) of Charlotte, Edith Palmer Laws and Carole Palmer of Lenoir; also, numerous nieces and nephews and several foster children.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence N. Palmer Sr., and a foster son, Michael Ray Dills.
