Political hot air, no juice and maybe a book deal?
Political hot air, no juice and maybe a book deal?

Several years ago when son, Nick, was in about third grade -- he's 18 now and about to graduate from high school -- he and a group of his buddies were driving their teacher nuts by constantly talking and whispering when they should have been listening.
Frustrated that nothing would silence this group for long, his teacher told Nick to write down why he was getting into trouble.
Nick's brain works a little differently than most so he drew a sketch of himself sitting at a school desk.

Keep meetings moving along
Keep meetings moving along

So, if you read my last column, you probably know how I feel about the public comments portion of the meeting, or at least how it should be conducted.
I figured I'd use the most recent meeting of the Louisburg Town Council as an example of what to do.
During that meeting, Town Administrator Sean Medlin informed the board that they had received a request to erect a four-way stop at the intersection of West Noble, East Noble and Spring streets.

It's Anybody's Game

FRANKLIN COUNTY -- While it may not boast the elite-level star power of the Class 3-A portion of the Big East Conference, the race for the top spot in the league's Class 2-A quadrant is proving interesting in its own right.
The No. 1 finisher in each classification of the Big East receives an automatic playoff spot, so that highlights the importance of the four-team standings on the Class 2-A level.

LOUISBURG -- Franklin County's Board of Education is looking to be proactive rather than reactive with a proposed change to its school bus drop-off policy.
They've posted the proposed change on their website -- www.fcschools.net -- and have given interested parties until prior to their February meeting to offer feedback.
In December, Superintendent Rhonda Schuhler and the board discussed proposed changes to the policy which, as it stands, allows students as young as kindergarten to get off the bus without having an older sibling or adult visible at the stop.
