A dozen developments, commerce site gets water allocation; Rolling Meadows still waits

LOUISBURG -- Franklin County commissioners approved water allocations for a dozen projects, including a new industrial project outside of Youngsville.
However, a Youngsville development that leaders there plan to tie into plans for a bypass didn't make the cut.

It's spring, but don't get ahead of Mother Nature
It's spring, but don't get ahead of Mother Nature

Although the temperatures may not entirely feel like it, Spring 2023 has officially arrived, but it's best not to get too far ahead of old Mother Nature.

Keeping track of state leaders is just a keyboard click away

Okay, I'll fully admit that when I think about members of the General Assembly working, I think about the Seinfeld episode when George explains to Jerry and Elaine the key to looking busy: Always look annoyed.
"When you look annoyed all the time," George explained, "people think that you're busy."
And, then, as only George can, he physically demonstrated exactly what he was talking about.

Of doomsday and cheap mattresses

Dear editor: Every minute of every hour of every day somewhere on earth, without fail, there's an imminent Doomsday prediction and a cheap mattress sale.
Thought this might prompt a little pondering and a chuckle or two. Lord knows we need both these days.

County should be proud of college

Dear editor:
I remember Quinton Leonard when he was playing basketball at Louisburg College.
He was one of the nicest kids you would ever meet and what a tragedy to lose him at the very young age of 44.
