DR. T. LACY STALLINGS JR.
ORIENTAL - Dr. Tolbert Lacy Stallings Jr. died Monday, Aug. 9, 2010. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. today (Saturday, Aug. 14) at Oriental United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Keith Sexton officiating.

He was born the second child of Tolbert Lacy Stallings Sr. and Mary Stewart Stallings in Greensboro and grew up in Bryson City.

After finishing high school in 1944, he was accepted into the Army Specialized Training Reserve Program until the end of hostilities in Europe. He later continued his studies at the Universities of Fribourg and Geneva in Switzerland, and returned to America to complete his undergraduate and medical studies at Duke University. He entered private practice in Raleigh as a general surgeon in August of 1959.

Surviving: wife, Jacquelyn Word Stallings, formerly of Louisburg; children, David (Adelaide) of Raleigh, Lisa Durham (Randy) of Raleigh, and Kathryn Bland (Bart) of Melrose, Fla.; sister, Dorothy Cross of Connecticut; and five grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Pamlico County, P. O. Box 827, Bayboro, NC 28515.
