ARTHUR D. DUCKETT JR.
GASTONIA - Arthur Douglas Duckett Jr., 76, formerly of Louisburg, died Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at the W.G. Heffnet V. A. Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, April  14, in the chapel of Noble and Kelsey Funeral Home, Inc., 223 E. Fisher Street, Salisbury. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. with Military Rites in the Salisbury National Cemetery,  Statesville Blvd., Salisbury.

He was born in Washington, D.C., the son of the late Susie Miles and Arthur Douglas Duckett Sr. He was educated in the public schools in Washington, D.C. He was a U. S. Army veteran and retired from the Department of Justice as a correctional officer.

He was formerly married to Janie Agurus Walker.

Surviving: son, Arthur Douglas Duckett III of Gastonia; stepson, Kelvin Walker of Gastonia; daughter, Althea Denise Duckett of Gastonia; sister, Winnie Duckett of Bowie, Md.; one niece; and five grandchildren.
