O. KEITH FULLER CDR USN (SS) (Ret.)
Commander Keith Fuller of Fairfax, Virginia, age 54, passed away December 11, 2012, surrounded by his loving family in the comfort of his home.

He showed enormous strength and courage during a two year battle with colorectal cancer. He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 30 years, Tamara May Fuller; and his two daughters, Erin Fuller of Charlottesville, VA and Emily Fuller of Fairfax, VA. CDR Fuller is the son of Myrna Neal of Centerville and the late Robert G. Fuller. He also leaves behind his three brothers, James Fuller and wife Connie of Knightdale, Martin Fuller of Louisburg, Sean Fuller of Louisburg; two sisters, Susan Hale and husband Bert of Warrenton; Robin Pridgen of Nashville, NC; brothers-in-law, James May Jr. and wife Carla of Wake Forest; Todd May and wife Tracey of Youngsville; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Peggy M. Perdue and husband Kenneth of Louisburg. He will also be greatly missed by many nieces and nephews.

Commander Fuller was born April 29, 1958 in Fort Carson, Colorado and moved to Louisburg with his family at the age of 10. He is a 1980 graduate of East Carolina University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry and also held a Master’s of Science degree in Systems Engineering from Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, California. He received his commission through the Navy’s Nuclear Power Officer Candidate program and began his active duty career in the United States Navy on June 4, 1982. During his 23 year career, CDR Fuller served aboard five nuclear powered submarines participating in numerous operations including operational testing of Trident C-4 Ballistic Missiles and was involved with the first submarine launched fully fueled Tomahawk and Attack Missile (TLAM). He also participated in Desert Shield and received many awards during his career. He retired from the Navy in September 2003 after serving as Chief Engineer for Communications Security at Defense Informations Systems Agency, Arlington, VA.

CDR Fuller also worked at Nortel Networks in IT sales and most recently was employed with Juniper Federal Systems as Senior Account Manager.

CDR Fuller’s favorite pastimes were family and friends, watching Duke basketball, traveling with his wife, especially to Paris and Mexico, gardening, and music.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, December 15, 11:00 AM, in the chapel of Strickland Funeral Home, 103 W. Franklin St., Louisburg. Burial will follow at Hill King United Methodist Church Cemetery.

His family received friends 7 - 8:30 PM Friday, December 14, at Strickland Funeral Home and other times at the home of Peggy and Kenneth Perdue, 323 Egypt Church Rd., Louisburg.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the James E. May Scholarship Fund of Hill King United Methodist Church, c/o Ricky May, 1897 NC 39 Hwy. S., Louisburg, NC 27549.
