BRUCE H. STRICKLAND

YOUNGSVILLE - Bruce Strickland, beloved husband and father, friend to all and a true southern gentleman, passed away on October 14th from complications of a massive stroke. Bruce was a quiet man of few words. He was admired and respected by all who knew him. Bruce never said an unkind word about anyone. He loved his simple country life and was often seen by those passing by cutting his 10 acres of grass on his big tractor with a smile on his face. Bruce was born and raised in Youngsville, North Carolina. He was a member of Youngsville Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and usher for many years. Bruce retired in 1989 as district manager of Brinks Armor Car Service in Raleigh, North Carolina.

A service honoring Bruce's memory was held in the chapel at Pine Forest Memorial Gardens in Wake Forest, North Carolina, on Sunday, October 16th, at 2 p.m. in the afternoon. Rev. Charles D. Stratton Jr. officiated. The family received friends after the service in the chapel.

Bruce leaves behind the love of his life for 66 years, his wife Voncile; daughter, Rhonda S. Irwin; nephew, Gary Strickland and his wife, Barbara; and a host of extended family and friends who will miss him dearly.

Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Nova Strickland; brothers, Needham and Russell Strickland; and son-in-law, John Irwin.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Bruce's memory to Youngsville Baptist Church, P.O. Box 297, Youngsville, NC 27596.

There was never a kinder man than Bruce Strickland. Rest in peace now with the Lord. Your loving family.

A service of Bright Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 405 S. Main St., Wake Forest.(919) 556-5811.
