SUSAN N. ALLEN

LOUISBURG - Susan Nelms Allen, 72, of Louisburg passed away peacefully at the home of her daughter, Missy, on Thursday, December 15, 2016. Born on November 3, 1944 to the late Graham and Emilie Avent Nelms. She was preceded in death by a son, Christopher Graham Allen; husband, William C. Shutt; and uncle, Saint Maurice Nelms.

Susan graduated from Gold Sand School in 1963 and married "Bootie" Allen of Franklinton, NC. She loved music, dancing and good times with friends but her greatest love were her children, biological and chosen. She was a fun loving person with the sweetest smile that matched her personality. She loved to recall old memories, especially memories with Bootie and friends. She was a lifelong member of Sandy Creek Baptist Church.

She is survived by her daughters, Missy Champion and her husband, Brian, and Penny Allen; her grandchildren, James Thomas Champion, Lindsey and Makayla Horton; three great-grandchildren; her sister, Joan Rhodes and her husband, Paul; her children's father, William T. Allen; and her cousin, Jimmy D. Nelms, and her niece, Vicki Burnette.

The family will receive friends Monday night from 7 to 8:30 pm at Lancaster Funeral and Cremation Services, 804 N. Bickett Blvd., Louisburg, N. C. 27549. A celebration of Susan's life will be held at a later date. Online condolences may be made to www.lancasterfcs.com.
