BILLY ROGERS ABBOTT

FRANKLINTON--Billy Rogers Abbott, 67, of Franklinton, passed away on Saturday, July 1, 2017. He was born on July 27, 1949 to the late Clyde Rogers Abbott and Ida Burnette Weaver. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Hill.

Billy served in the National Guard, the Franklinton Volunteer Fire Department, was a member of American Legion Post 52, and the American Legion 40/8. Billy was retired from the NC Department of Corrections. Billy was funny, witty, and loved spending time with his family. He was an awesome "Papa" and enjoyed sitting on his porch or having family over for cookouts.

A celebration of Billy's life will be held on July 8, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Franklinton Baptist Church with the Rev. David Averette officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 - 2:00 at the church.

Billy is survived by his wife, Teresa Abbott; his children, Scott Abbott, Brad Kearney (Tina), Kelly Canterbury and Stephanie Garrett; eight grandchildren, Sophie Abbott, Madison Fleming, Camden Canterbury, Troy Kearney, Will Garrett, Chase Kearney, Luke Kearney and John Austin; his brothers, Jack Abbott (Janice), Jerry Abbott (Sarah) and Ronnie Abbott (Margaret); and a brother-in-law, Morris Hill.
