ALVIN D. KEARNEY

KITTRELL - Alvin Dunn Kearney, 87, of Kittrell, NC died Thursday, September 28, 2017 at a local nursing home.

Born in Vance County, he was the son of the late Joseph H. and Myrtle Dunn Kearney.

Mr. Kearney was a retired Manager of Rose's Stores Inc. and was a retiree of Franklin County Schools. He was a veteran of the United States Army and was of the Baptist faith.

Funeral services will be held Monday, October 2, 2017 at 11:00 a.m., at Plank Chapel United Methodist Church, conducted by Rev. Carolyn Roy. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Surviving are his wife, Jo Anne Beckham Kearney; and three sisters, Rosa K. Abbott of Henderson, Susie K. Beal of Kittrell, and Margaret K. Collins of Henderson. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary K. Satterwhite; and three brothers, J.T. Kearney, David Kearney, and Robert Kearney.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall. All other times, they will be at the home of Susie Beal, 1095 Kittrell Road, Kittrell.

Serving as pallbearers will be Tommy Piper, Walter Beal, Preston Dunn, Milton Abbott, Sol Weiner, Art Patterson, Tommy Kemp, and David Kearney.

Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to the church or charity of one's choice.

Arrangements are by Flowers Funeral Home.
