JAMES W. SMITH, JR.
February 7, 1939 - November 13, 2017

LOUISBURG - James Wiley Smith, Jr., 78, of Louisburg, died Monday morning.

James was a son of the late Jim and Lucy T. Smith. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary R. Smith; sister, Margie Billings; brother, Donald Smith.

The family would like to thank Justin Smith and Elizabeth Elliott for their special care and attention to their PAPA and to the staff of Kitty Askins Hospice Center for their care in his last days.

A graveside service will be held 3 p.m. Friday at the Smith Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends 7 - 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Strickland Funeral Home & Crematory, Louisburg.

James is survived by his daughter, Deborah Daughtry of Middlesex; sons and daughters-in-law, Will and Evelyn Smith of Louisburg, Greg and Dena Smith of Goldsboro, Eric and Toots Smith of Zebulon, Brian and Deana Smith of Louisburg; sisters, Marie Pernell and Mildred Roberson of Louisburg, Avis Pernell of Franklinton; brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Cherry Smith of Fuquay; 13 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park Ct, Goldsboro, NC 27534.
