JERRY WAYNE ABBOTT

YOUNGSVILLE--Jerry Wayne Abbott, 70, died Monday, June 18, 2018 at his residence. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 21, at Harris Chapel Baptist Church, with Dr. Bill Haley officiating. Inurnment will follow in the family Columbarium in the church cemetery with Military honors.

He was born in Vance County, the son of the late Ida Pearl Burnette Abbott and Clyde Rogers Abbott.

He was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army. He retired from Cooper Tools in Apex after 39 years of service.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister; Patricia Hill; a brother, Billy Abbott; and a former wife, Star Cardwell Abbott.

Surviving: his wife, Sarah Wall Abbott; a son, Jeff Abbott (Valerie) of Durham; daughters, Dawn Abbott Castro of Franklinton and Milli Edwards of Louisburg; brothers; Jack Abbott (Janice) of Manson, Ronnie Abbott (Margaret) of Oak Island; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
