CECIL ROBERT SYKES

FORT WORTH, TX--Cecil Robert Sykes, 79, died September 3, 2018 in Fort Worth, Texas. He was born November 13, 1938 to the late Cecil and Marian Sykes of Louisburg, North Carolina, where he lived until his graduation from W. R. Mills High School in 1957.

He attended DeVry Technical Institute in Chicago and later joined the U. S. Air Force in the 1960's, where he was stationed at Homestead Air Force Base in Florida.

He married Bettie Paige Herbert of Clayton, N.C. in 1967. They lived for many years in Texas, retiring to Wilmington, N. C. until Bettie's death. Bob returned to Texas to live near their son, Paul and his wife Cari, who survive him. He is also survived by one sister, Hannah Sykes Bohannan (Gordon) of Surry, Virginia. Other survivors include a sister-in-law, Charlotte Watson (Louis) of Georgetown, Texas and their children, Sam and Wendy, as well as several cousins.

Bob donated his body to Science Care and his cremains will be interred at a later date in the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.
