EVELYN G. WINSTEAD
August 22, 1938 - March 10, 2020

LOUISBURG - Evelyn Gupton Winstead has departed this life to live with her Lord and Savior in heaven on March 10, 2020.

Evelyn was the daughter of the late Percy A. and Nannie Bell Gupton. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Rev. W.L. "Bill" Winstead, and sister, Lillie Mae Gupton.

Evelyn graduated from Gold Sand High School in May of 1957. Attended East Carolina University 1960 - 1963, graduated from Carolina College of Business in 1964 with a business diploma. She then taught school from 1966 to 1973. She graduated from Rio Grande Bible Institute in Edinburgh, TX. Evelyn served as a missionary, along with her husband, in Mexico and Puerto Rico.

Visitation will be Saturday at 1 p.m. prior to the funeral service at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Strickland Funeral Home, Louisburg, with Rev. Frankie Reaves officiating. Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.

Evelyn is survived by her cousin, who she considered her brother and was her special caregiver, Henry Hamlet, and his wife, Sabina, and their daughter, Lori Hamlet; children, Ramon and Jackie Rodriguez; sister-in-law, Pattie Pennewell; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Lelon "Chick" and Janet Winstead; Jesse and Clara Winstead; 2 granddaughters; 1 great-grandson; and many cousins.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gospel Independent Baptist Church, 4061 Stagecoach Rd., Oxford, NC 27565 or the church of one's choice.
