In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Holt, and her son, Kirby Holt; four brothers and three sisters.

Ruth was a devoted wife. She enjoyed singing, sewing, quilting, fishing, and preparing lunch for her family, whom she loved dearly, every Sunday afternoon. Ruth was a Godly woman who taught her children and grandchildren to honor the Lord by example. She was a member of Piney Grove United Methodist Church where she played the piano for many years.

A private family graveside service was held.

She is survived by her daughter, Joan H. Moore; grandchildren, Lisa M. Arnold (Tommy), Doug Moore (Roxane), Amber Craddock (Joel), Tiffany Black (Barrett); brother, Reverend Jack Luther (Carolyn); sister-in-law, Doris H. Cook; daughter-in-law, Sue Holt; nine great-grandchildren and thirteen great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
