MED BRAGG

FRANKLINTON, NC--Medicus E. (Med) Bragg, age 97, passed away on November 26, 2021 at his home. Med was born in the Pocomoke community of Granville County to the late Bayard L. Bragg and Norma Moore Bragg in 1924. He attended N.C. State University, but left to serve his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. After the war, he graduated from Wake Forest University and began work at his family's cotton gin in Franklinton. After his 1954 marriage to Louise Strother Bragg, who predeceased him in 2016, the couple moved to Washington, D.C. where he received a master's degree from George Washington University while working for the U.S. Senate Library.

In 1964, the couple and their children relocated to Raleigh and Med began teaching at Broughton High School. When Sanderson High School opened in 1968, he began working there in administration until his retirement in 1986. Upon retirement, Med and Louise relocated to the Pocomoke community where he remained until his death. He was a member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church from its opening in 1958 until his passing.

Med is survived by his son, Martin Bragg (Glenda); his daughter, Terry Ward (Kevin); his grandchildren, Catie Wall (Andrew), Gregory Bragg (Kayce), Alex Bragg, Sarah Ward and Michael Ward; his great-grandchildren, Ellie Wall, Emma Wall, John Wall and Grayson Bragg. In addition to his parents and wife, Med was predeceased by his sister, Alice B. Bigham, and his two brothers, Bayard L. (Bro) Bragg, Jr. and James R. Bragg.

A graveside funeral service was held at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, 1626 Gordon Moore Road, Franklinton, NC at 2 p.m. on Monday, November 29. The family extends heartfelt appreciation to Med's many caregivers: Emma, Dock, Annie and Barbara, and the teams from Transitions LifeCare and Wisdom Senior Care. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Wesley Chapel UMC, c/o Treasurer, 1666 Suitts Store Rd., Franklinton, NC 27525, would be appreciated.

Arrangements are being handled by Lancaster's Franklinton Chapel. Online condolences may be made to www.lancasterfcs.com.
