Bessie Price Williams "Bess"
May 10, 1927 - October 22, 2022

LOUISBURG, NC -- Bessie Price Williams, 95, died Saturday, October 22, 2022 at Franklin Oaks Nursing and Rehab after a long battle with dementia.

Born in Halifax County, NC, she was preceded in death by her parents, Jessie L. and Bessie Cooper Price, of Tarboro, NC, and a sister, Eleanor Price Causey of Roanoke Rapids, NC.

Graduated from Tarboro High School in 1945, Bess spent her early working life with Carolina Telephone and Telegraph Company and the Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Company before marrying and becoming a homemaker in rural Franklin County. Later she became a Certified Nursing Assistant working at Franklin Memorial Hospital and Franklin Regional Medical Center and in the infirmary and cafeteria at Louisburg College, where she was the biggest fan of the baseball team.

A skilled seamstress and cook, she loved her family, music, reading, gardening, caring for "her" hummingbirds, visiting with family and friends, and traveling to the North Carolina coast. We will all miss her generosity, the beautiful clothes she made us and the wonderful meals she served us.

Bess is survived by a brother, Irvin "Buck" Price of Tarboro, NC, a daughter, Jane Best of Louisburg, NC, a son, Jonathan (Linda) Williams of Nashville, NC, a daughter, Elizabeth Adair (David) Werner of Clayton, NC, and a granddaughter, Christina A. Williams of Nashville, NC.

The family would like to thank the staff of Franklin Oaks Nursing and Rehab and the staff of the Adult Day Program at the Louisburg Senior Center for their kindness and the care they provided to her, as well as the wonderful home aids whose company she so enjoyed.

A service and interment will be scheduled in Tarboro at a later date.

Arrangements are by City of the Oaks Cremation, Raleigh, NC.
