Carolyn Denton Patterson

LOUISBURG, NC--Carolyn Denton Patterson, age 69 of Louisburg, passed away peacefully with her family by her side after a courageous battle with cancer on Friday, December 2, 2022.

She was born in Franklin County on October 5, 1953 to Dorcas Stallings Gravitt and the late Ronald "Pete" Denton.

Carolyn was retired after 42 years of loyal and faithful service to the Town of Louisburg where she served as the town clerk/administrative assistant.

She was a longtime member of Louisburg Baptist Church where she served in many capacities including overseeing the Operation Christmas Child Shoebox ministry.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, December 6 at Louisburg Baptist Church, with her son-in-law Rev. Ted Jones officiating. Burial will be private.

The family will receive friends one hour following the service in the church fellowship hall.

She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Thomas Ray Patterson; daughter and son-in-law, Michelle Patterson Jones and Rev. Ted Jones of Louisburg; mother and father Dorcas Stallings Gravitt and Bobby Gravitt of Louisburg; and sister and brother-in-law Bobbie Gravitt Tharrington and Nick Tharrington of Louisburg. She is also survived by many who called her Mama Carolyn.

In lieu of flowers the family ask that memorial contributions be made to the SECU Jim and Betsy Bryan Hospice House in Pittsboro.
