MARIS OZOLINS

FRANKLINTON, NC -- Maris Ozolins, 82, of Franklinton, NC died on June 10, 2023. He was born in Riga, Latvia on June 1, 1941 to the late Artrus and Madra Silins Ozolins. In addition to his parents, Maris was predeceased by his brother, Ugis Ozolins; and his stepson, Michael Vincent Siry.

Maris is survived by his loving wife, Anna Ozolins; his daughters, Kimberly Rusczcayk (Robert), and Mara Goulette (Robert); his step-daughter, Patricia Anderson (Scott); his beloved grandchildren, Issabella, Noah, Thomas, and Hope.

Maris's family immigrated to the United States to flee communist oppression; he attended high school in New Jersey where he was an award-winning athlete. Maris served in the U.S. Army and then attended Rutgers University. He was a devoted husband and father. Maris and Anna built their dream home on Lake Sherman in Brimfield MA. Maris worked for 35 years in large construction where he managed many projects. He was a lover of nature, animals, and acoustic guitar music. Maris adored his King Charles spaniels, "Peapod" and "Buddy Boy" that preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be private.

The family has entrusted First Cremation Society with funeral arrangements.
