DONALD L. MUNDEL
December 3, 1936 - January 19, 2026

Spring Hope, NC -- Donald Leonard Mundel, 89, of Spring Hope, passed away peacefully Monday morning, January 19, 2026, surrounded by his family at his home.

Don was a son of the late Leonard Joseph and Alta Rose Mundel. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Sally Jo Mundel, sisters, Lois Roberts, and Judy Clark; brothers, Richard Mundel, Larry Mundel and Charles Mundel; step-daughter, Delores Westcott.

Don graduated from Newton High School in 1955 and served in the Navy from 1955 to 1959. He was a member of Duke Memorial Baptist Church. He loved gardening, nature, feeding and watching many breeds of birds. He loved to travel and go fishing. He also enjoyed when friends and guests as well as his family came to visit. Don was a great host to his guests. He loved his family and his favorite football team, the Denver Broncos. But most of all he loved the Lord and his church family.

A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, January 26 at Duke Memorial Baptist Church. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

Don is survived by his loving wife, Betty Jean Mundel; son, Donald Joseph Mundel of Anoka, Minnesota; daughters, Chrisine Locascio (Steve) of St. Augustine, Florida, and Laura Johnson (Doug) of Blaine, Minnesota; brother Gary Mundel (Ann); five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; stepson Douglas Smith (Sheila); three step-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Duke Memorial Baptist Church 3976 NC 581 Hwy., Louisburg, NC 27549.
