FRANKLINTON — Two men identified as gang members by police have been charged with felony aiding and abetting after a shooting in Franklinton on Monday. Bobby Earl Williams, 21, of Lot 30 Cavalier Drive, Louisburg, and Michael J. Harris, 27, of 701 Champion St., Henderson, were arrested near 7 W. Mason St. at 10:52 a.m., police said.

Three Bunn High students, resource officer in collision
Three Bunn High School students and a Louisburg police officer were taken to the hospital Friday morning following a head-on collision. Trooper D.R. Simmons has yet to file his accident report, but according to preliminary information provided by Sgt. L.D. Bullock, Officer Brenda Hawkins was traveling north on Dunn Road near Mort Harris Road at about 7:30 a.m. when the accident occurred.

Franklinton Scam Jam empowered seniors
“You always learn something new at these events,” was the comment one person in attendance at the Franklinton Scam Jam held at the Interdenominational Ushers Association building just north of Franklinton. Various presenters from Raleigh and the local Franklinton Police Department spent the morning talking about how to prevent scams and fraud. The event was the result of the collaboration of work by AARP North Carolina, the Attorney General’s Office, Office of the State Treasury, Better Business Bureau, Secretary of State Securities Division, Department of Insurance, the Town of Franklinton and the Franklin County Department of Aging. These events are conducted around the state to help North Carolinians in the ever constant battle to stay ahead of the latest con game.

The Franklin County Adult Day Care/Health Program is located in the Louisburg Senior Center. The hours of operation are 7:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m., Monday-Friday. The purpose of the day program is to maintain individuals in their home and community as long as possible. The day program provides an alternative to placement in a long-term care facility by providing quality care to adults that are mentally or physically impaired. The program allows caregivers the opportunity to continue employment, take care of personal business and enjoy a much needed break from providing care on a daily basis.

WARRENTON — Investigators continue to search for three men suspected in the shooting death of a Warren County convenience store clerk Friday.
Randy Terrell, 41, son of a retired Franklin County deputy, was killed during a robbery at PaPa’s Country Store and Grill in southern Warren County. The father of three had only worked there for three months.
