Wilder. Frances was predeceased by her husband, George D. Foster; brother, John Earl Wilder; and son-in-law, Archie Baker.

Bunn Pulls Away From Louisburg
BUNN -- Bunn's 2021 football season might not have lived up to in-house expectations, but the final chapter proved to be one to remember for the Wildcats.
The Wildcats scored on the first play of the game and never trailed the rest of the way en route to defeating ultimate rival Louisburg by a 40-12 margin in Big East Conference gridiron action Friday night at the BHS Football Field.

Franklin County Arts Council has announced that artist Shirley (Patterson) Romero will be presenting Funday Monday Art Class for Kids and Art Wednesday for Adults and Young Adults beginning in November.
Louisburg is Romero's hometown. After high school, she moved to Greenville to attend The School of Arts at East Carolina University and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in graphic design.

LOUISBURG -- More than two years ago, commissioners in Franklin, Granville and Vance counties partnered with Open Broadband to bring an Internet provider to the region that would focus on the unserved and underserved.
As of this summer, Granville County agreed to cancel its contract with the Waxhaw-based company.

FRANKLIN COUNTY -- There will be a number of opportunities for residents to celebrate Halloween in a public fashion.
First, Youngsville's businesses are hosting Trick or Treat on Main Street on Friday, Oct. 29, from 3-6 p.m.
The event, organized by town businesses, not town government, is expected to take place, rain or shine. However, if there is a deluge, organizers may reschedule for Saturday.

Waiden family pays tribute to parents' memory

FRANKLINTON -- Late last week, proprietors of a town institution, City Lunch, were not exactly sure when they'd open, again.
One thing that never closed, though, was their hearts.
Clyde Waiden, who operated the diner, famously known as the Hot Dog Stand, with his wife, Sharon, and daughter Michelle, passed away on Oct. 19.
Sharon passed away earlier this year, on April 8.

LOUISBURG - Franklin County youth, age 5 -19 years old, are invited to participate in the County's 9th Annual "FUN" Livestock Show that will be held virtually for the second year.
Area youth who love animals and would like to be judged exhibiting their animals via video recording are encouraged to participate.

Affordable housing: Easier said than done!
Affordable housing: Easier said than done!

At its last meeting before the upcoming municipal election, the Louisburg Town Council got tossed the proverbial "hot potato" by southside residents -- although this "tater" had nothing to do with the election.
The Southside Neighborhood Association of Louisburg presented a written statement to the council noting that affordable housing is needed in town -- and asked town leaders to take a "more stringent approach" toward finding a solution.

FRANKLIN COUNTY -- When the Big East Conference volleyball schedule began this fall, it was considered a safe bet that the Franklin County 'Big Three' of Louisburg, Franklinton and Bunn would control the upper-tier proceeds in the newfangled league.
But that assessment was made before the program enhancements at Nash Central and Roanoke Rapids were on display, which left five teams tied for the top spot in the Big East heading into the final week of the regular season.

LOUISBURG -- Nash Central High School's boys soccer victory at Louisburg on October 14 featured several admirable performances -- both on and off the field.
The Bulldogs won the match by an 8-1 margin against homestanding Louisburg in Big East Conference action at historic Patterson Field on the LHS campus.
Eight different scorers found the back of the net for Nash Central, but the heroics didn't end there.

ROCKY MOUNT -- Louisburg's Shamir Sheppard is known more for his offensive excellence, but he made the defensive play of the game during the Warriors' road victory last Friday night over Nash Central in Big East football action at The Dawg Pound on the NCHS campus.
With LHS clinging to a two-point lead in the fourth quarter and Nash Central having just scored, Sheppard was inserted into the game as a situational substitute at linebacker in an attempt to stop the Bulldogs' potential score-tying 2-point attempt.

FRANKLINTON -- Of all the expected occurrences within the Big East Conference football scene this season, Franklinton being able to thump Rocky Mount in resounding fashion was probably near the bottom of the list.
But in what could only be considered an upset, the Red Rams rolled past Rocky Mount last Friday night in a one-sided blowout at the FHS Football Field.

BUNN -- Bunn's hard-luck football season continued with another tough loss at home last Friday -- this time to the Roanoke Rapids Yellow Jackets.
Roanoke Rapids was able to move into the top spot in the race for an automatic Class 2-A State Playoff spot out of the Big East Conference -- but it certainly wasn't an easy proposition for the Yellow Jackets.
