So, when I was at the Sept. 18 Franklin County Board of Commissioners meeting, I quite literally pondered my life's decisions as a special use permit hearing -- the second of three, mind you -- devolved into some sort of controlled chaos for hours.A resident was even escorted from the public meeting via sheriff's deputy.I literally figured it was the most extreme public meeting that I'd ever be part of.

772.Franklinton man faces assault, kidnap charges
Authorities arrested a Franklinton area man suspected of an assault and kidnapping that was apparently fueled by a drunken rage. Willie Perry’s mother, though, told deputies that the victim helped trigger the incident. Investigators were dispatched to a home in the 5400 block of N.C. 56 West to find Perry and his girlfriend, Tyesha Thomas, involved in a domestic dispute the evening of June 15.

LOUISBURG -- The Louisburg Police Department arrested 15 people and leveled 120 charges as part of an effort to root out drug activity.Operation Safeguard was an eight-month operation that focused on illegal drug distribution in and around Louisburg, said Chief Jason Abbott.The town combined their efforts with Franklinton police and sheriff's deputies, Abbott said.

Franklin County sheriff’s deputies are investigating a handful of home break-ins. Before 1 p.m. on June 6, William Pearce reported that someone broke into a home in the 100 block of Will Mitchner Road. According to the report by Dep. Robert Legnante, Pearce was driving past the property when he saw a suspicious vehicle and two black men at the house.
