The trial against Joe Williams was slated to begin in the middle of January, but the threat of ice or snow kept defense attorneys and prosecutors from starting the hearing.

County clinics help rabies cases drop
It turns out more is less.
The Tar River Veterinary Hospital has ramped up its rabies vaccination clinics, hosting one per month at the county animal shelter at 351 T. Kemp Road.
While it may not be an exact correlation, the county’s cases of rabies have dipped, accounting for less cases of rabies with more clinics, said Animal Control Director Graham Stallings.

An accused murderer is scheduled to appear in the next trial court session of superior court.
Franklinton and Virginia State Police combined to arrest Rashawn Arrington on Sept. 21 — a day after local police allege he shot and killed Jesse Montague Jr.
Arrington is slated to appear in court during the trial court session beginning on Feb. 21.

Novozymes North America of Franklinton recently presented a contribution to the Vance-Granville Community College Endowment Fund to support the local chapter-level MATHCOUNTS competition for middle school students, which is hosted on the college’s main campus each February.
